Helping You Find Your Groove
Hi, I’m Jarrett Visher — a drummer, educator, and lifelong musician based near Bernal Heights, San Francisco. I’ve been playing drums for over 20 years and teaching for five years, helping students of all ages discover their rhythm, confidence, and creativity.
About Me
I’m a UC Berkeley graduate and experienced music instructor. Over the years, I’ve taught at School of Rock and various music summer camps, offering lessons to youth and adults at different skill levels. My approach combines patience, structure, and fun — making sure each student feels supported while growing as a musician.
As an educator, I draw on my experience in youth development and academic coaching, which helps me connect with students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles. I believe music should be approachable and inspiring.
Why I Teach
Music has always been one of the great joys of my life. Teaching allows me to share that passion and help others grow their confidence and creativity. Watching students progress — from their first groove to performing in bands — is truly inspirational!
My Teaching Philosophy
I started playing drums at age 9 and have performed in a wide range of styles — jazz, rock, funk, pop-punk, and metal. My lessons go beyond just learning beats; they’re about understanding rhythm, creativity, and collaboration.
I often play bass guitar alongside students during lessons, which helps build timing and musical awareness. Playing together allows students to feel what it’s like to “lock in” with another musician — the foundation of great drumming.
